Strohecker's

**I am posting this for a buddy who does not have access to a computer or the internet**

My friend purchases his testosterone from Strohecker's and injects 0.4 mL once a week. He tells me that the 10 mL vial from Strohecker's used to last him an entire 6 months, but is now only lasting him 5 months. He said he called the pharmacist and spoke to him, though this issue seemed to irk the pharmacist and he couldn't get an answer from him. He was wondering if anyone else who uses Strohecker's has been having the same problem...? Thanks!

Moderator Post: Under New Management

Greetings community members!

Your old moderator, [info]genderwarrior, has passed the baton on for management of this community. Your current moderators, for the time being, are:

[info]auntysarah, [info]jamiethegrey, [info]parmonster, [info]snakey and [info]zoeimogen.

We've already made a few small changed - the user info page will be rewritten, we haven't worked out what will be put there yet. The community has also been switched from moderated posting to open posting, assuming I did it right. For the time being, the membership of this community is open, unlike its sister community, [info]trans_feminism, which has moderated membership. We'll have to see how that goes.

There were a few old articles in the moderation queue - rather than have them posted all at once with odd looking timestamps, I rejected them when I turned off post moderation. Those who wish to repost them may do so if they like, and feel the entries are still timely.

We'd like to thank [info]genderwarrior for the work they did on the community previously.

Anyway, over to the members, enjoy!

feet two different sizes?

Hiya - was wondering what y'all do if say, you find that one foot has swelling issues that make it much wider than the other. This hasn't been too much of a problem till I tried to get into my winter standbys, Dansko closed-back clogs. The right is perfect, the left is painful across the top of my foot. Can I wear 2 different sizes at once? Will I fall down and trip all the time? I realize I may have to suck it up and try a different style of shoe, but the regular clogs are the only ones that seem to fit me previously, plus I have plantar fasciitis/flat feet issues to deal with.

Moderator Note: New Moderator

Hi All - I understand that there are a few people who are upset with me / my decisions regarding how to handle the recent situation. I honestly believe that I have acted fairly and appropriately based on the rules of this community and I stand by my decision based on the banned members violating the community rules. However, if someone else would like to take over moderation of this community, I will gladly hand it over to the first 5 people who state that they would like to moderate, and then further steps can worked out by the new moderators and the community.

Interesting buying option, thought I would share...

So, I was on Ebay and did a search, since I am desperate and all... ;)

They are selling "collectibe packs of cloves" online. Thought this may be an option, seems like it may be more secure or somewhat possible to get your money back if there is an issue with delivery. You can actually ask them to post your particular faves and you can buy them there. They are a little tiny bit more expensive, but still not as high as were paying before.

I like the paypal protection you would receive, ya know?

Here is one of the posts, like I said though, you can get your own kind.

Nice to see another option.

I will give this a try after mine are posted... hopefully today or tomorrow.

See ya!

Skirt

Vest, Cardi, Leggings - Evans
Skirt - Me
Shoes - TUKs
Necklace - Next

Hey everyone! Haven't posted for a while, but I made this skirt today and thought I'd show it off here. My mum recently bought a lovely tweed tulip skirt from Next, and I so wanted it, but of course they didn't come in my size. So I decided to make my own. I got the tweed fabric from Ebay, in a colour that suits me (the one my mum got was brown mainly, which doesn't suit me anyway). It took about 4 hours for me to make, is unlined (because wool is pretty heavy/warm/opaque), and has a button and zipper closure at the back.

I probably wouldn't actually wear the knotted cardigan with this normally, but we are having our bathroom redone, and the new bath is blocking my wardrobe(I use a built in cupboard in the hall), so I had to make do with some clothes that were already in my room. Underneath is just a vest top, but I really hate my arms, so covering with the cardi had to be done. In future I will probably wear this skirt with a plain tshirt, tights and patent pumps, as opposed to the leggings, cardi and kitty shoes.

Is anyone in this lj community in Paris? I will be visiting in the spring to show some work at Palais de Tokio.
I am trying to get a sense of how life is for TG/TS there, so please reply here (or feel free to contact me via my lj) if you live there and would like to share some thoughts!

Thanks very much.

Community Moderation re: abortion post

Thank you to those who reached out to let me know about the flame war going on in this community.

As we all know, abortion is an exceptionally sensitive topic in most, if not all communities. It is completely understandable that rights around pregnancy would be even more so in this trans-centered community. While I certainly understand that some may be triggered by the topic because it may feel to be a topic privileged to cisgender people, I do not believe that it is an inappropriate inclusion in this community. It is clearly a feminist issue, and I daresay that each of us knows someone, trans or not, able to biologically reproduce or not, who may face choices and challenges around access to abortion. I understand that others may feel that this is an inappropriate inclusion, and I respect that, however as the moderator, I will always err on the side of inclusion if something is feminist related, rather than silencing a topic by not approving its posting.

Now, being the moderator, I am tasked with figuring out how to handle this mess. First,
throwing around language such as "real transpeople," and suggesting that a person does not have the right to speak in this community because of their gender -regardless of what that gender is- is sexist, discrimination, completely inappropriate and will not be tolerated.

Second, From our community rules, that each of us agreed to when we joined:

"This community wishes to offer a safe space for all for respectful, calm discussion of these controversial topics, (with the hope of establishing some common ground). In order to achieve this end, those who are not willing or are not capable of respectful dialogue with different minded (or differently gendered) people are discouraged from joining this community."

- The moderator(s) of this community reserve the right to ban users without notice for personal attacks on other users, flaming, and general inappropriateness.

- Do not feed the trolls, or engage in flame wars. Please notify the moderator of this community of any users / posts / comments that contain trolls or flame wars. Users engaging in trolling or flame wars will be immediately banned."
"

The last time that a few of the major players in this current controversy were engaging in similar behavior, I issued a warning and I stated that if it happened again, I will ban all parties involved who violate these rules. I stand by that statement and I am banning pandapajamas, auntysarah, danaelaurm, tinyrevolution, gender_euphoric, and pikake. It is not what you say, but how you say it, and if you say it more than 5 times, its flaming. Also, even if your flames are sarcastic in nature and are intended to mock a flame war, it is still flaming.

Since there is no option for me to lock the post and stop commenting, I have deleted the post in question. (ETA - My bad! I didn't know about the freeze feature, and will use it in the future).

Also, in answer to questions about moderation - the community is set so that all posts must be moderated before they are posted. I do my best to respond to moderation requests within 24 hours. If you have a moderation concern, please remember to message me directly.

vitamin d and heart disease risk in cismen tied to estrogen levels

Heart and bone damage from low vitamin D tied to declines in sex hormones

Researchers at Johns Hopkins are reporting what is believed to be the first conclusive evidence in men that the long-term ill effects of vitamin D deficiency are amplified by lower levels of the key sex hormone estrogen, but not testosterone.

In a national study in 1010 men, to be presented Nov. 15 at the American Heart Association's (AHA) annual Scientific Sessions in Orlando, researchers say the new findings build on previous studies showing that deficiencies in vitamin D and low levels of estrogen, found naturally in differing amounts in men and women, were independent risk factors for hardened and narrowed arteries and weakened bones. Vitamin D is an essential part to keeping the body healthy, and can be obtained from fortified foods, such as milk and cereals, and by exposure to sunlight.

I don't know how or if this would translate to us. But it's valuable to note that estrogen is an important hormone for the health of cismen, and presumably us too. This study also makes note of the confusing results of hormone treatment of post-menopausal women. Such treatment didn't show lowered heart disease risk, but greater heart disease risk. This means that exogenous (not body produced) estrogen introduced to ciswomen didn't have the benefit attributed to endogenous estrogen.

Hystos and Insurance in the US

I was just curious to see what reason codes/ how have people been able to get their hystos covered by insurance? Whether it be before, during or after medical Transition (ie. T and/or Top surgery)?
Also were you limited to only a "certain" type of hysto? (ie. abdominal, just cervix and uterus removed, everything remove and so on).

I feel more people would benefit from such a discussion. Plus I am just curious for my own nerdy purposes because this is not as commonly discussed and I wanted to see if there was any pattern/ common reason.

Thanks in Advance

Cris

Gyn Doctor/ surgeon Zoe Rodriguez

I was just wondering if anyone had personal experience having a hysto with a gynecolosist by the name of Dr. Zoe Rodriquez in NYC. She is affiliated with Beth Israel Hospital.

Thanks in Advance

ootd x2

Back in October a group of Chicago fats met up for brunch. We had great food, great conversation and visited Vive la Femme, a plus size boutique here in Chicago. This was my first trip to VLF and it was like I'd stepped into a fairy tale. All the clothes were made for bodies like mine! I was with a group of women who understood the struggles I face when buying clothes. We had show and tell and it was just the best experience. I walked away with the most gorgeous dress - it is the most expensive dress I've ever purchased - even more than prom and bridesmaid dresses, but this dress was like Cinderella's slipper. Three of us tried it on. One girl didn't fill out the top. Another filled it out a little too much. Then in a "what the hell" moment, I tried it on. It fit perfectly. See the dress and an interview outfit under the cut.
